The most meaningful memories of the Students Without Boundaries Program are often not found in the itinerary or the program schedule, but in the personal stories that take shape in the hearts of its participants. On this page, the young people of the 30th Anniversary Students Without Boundaries Program share their experiences, encounters, friendships, and reflections, offering a glimpse into the moments that made this remarkable journey unforgettable.
After breakfast, the Zrinyi crew started off to Debrecen by bus, where we marvelled at the the Reformed Great Church, both outside and inside. We were told that it has been rebuilt twice, after fires, the bell cracked apart and only a small piece of it remained and that Lajos Kossuth also visited as a National Assembly meeting was held here. We were shown the panorama sidewalk, from where, 40 meters high between the two towers, we could view Debrecen.
Then we took off for Hortobágy, where we could see the buffaloes, racka sheep and, of course, the horses from our carriages. There were horseüherders, dressed in their traditional garb, who entertained us with various programs. Thez sat the horses down, laid them on the ground and some stood on the backs of two while driving another three. After the carriage tour, we went into the stables to admire the horses, into the museum to learn more about the horse-herders, or the clay workshop where we had a good chat with the ceramics expert. After the many experiences, we got back on the bus and started back to our lodgings.
I chatted with some others, everybody had a great time! For me, the high point of the day was Hortobágy as I heard a lot about it but it was much better seeing it. I liked it because I learned a lot about the horse-herders and the animals there.
